One Rooftop

GreenPulse Club started in 2024 when four students got permission to put a small monitoring rig on top of the campus library, tracking how much power four secondhand solar panels actually produced through a full rainy season. That first dataset is still running, it's the same live-data habit behind the grid snapshot and solar gauge on our homepage.

What grew out of that one panel is four program areas today: renewable energy, electric vehicles, smart cities and circular economy. Membership is open to any student, no dues, no prior technical background required, most people learn the tools on their first project.

How We Work

Every project, in any of the four areas, moves through the same three stages.

Learn

New members shadow a running project for two to three weeks before picking a focus, no application, no prerequisite course.

Build

Small teams of two to five ship something real: a sensor rig, a dashboard, a physical prototype, tracked openly on the Gallery page.

Share

Finished projects get written up and demoed at a monthly show-and-tell, that's also where most Events page workshops come from.

No. Most members join with zero background in their program area and pick up the tools by shadowing a running project for two to three weeks before choosing a focus.

No dues. Equipment for club projects comes from our campus and local partners, not member fees.

Roughly 2 to 4 hours a week outside the Wednesday meetup, more if your team is close to a deadline. It flexes around your coursework, nobody tracks attendance.

Yes, admission is rolling. The Events page lists a formal recruitment drive each fall, but showing up on any Wednesday works too.

Common, actually. Several current project leads started in a different one of the four areas before switching once they found their focus.
